Danielle van Vree (1969, NL)
‘Legacy’ is a film about the images and words that have stuck in Watou’s collective memory. It’s a powerful period piece that presents the viewer with scenes of quiet landscapes, barns and deserted streets. Places where art or poetry were once seen or heard. Additionally, Van Vree worked with local students to sow the word ‘legacy’ in the fertile soil of Brennepark. The film starts with the empty field, shows how the grain grows, and ends with its harvest. ‘Legacy’ shows that everything that is handed down to us actually survives, albeit merely as a memory.
